We have received the National Research Traineeship (NRT) grant for $2.99 million from National Science Foundation (NSF) for our work on human centered holistic design. This work is possible because of a strong collaboration between engineering, health sciences, sciences, education and public policy with Priya Pennathur Arunkumar Pennathur Johannes Strobel, Ph.D. Thenral Mangadu SRINIVASA RAO SINGAMANENI vivek tandon Eric D. Smith Malu (Maria Luisa) Picard-Ami, PhD Guadalupe Corral. Our partners in community engagement Naomi Fertman and Jennifer Lujan will help us shape and enrich student experiences to address challenges in the community.
We hope to make meaningful impact by engaging students in research training related to design challenges The ideas in this project draw from human factors engineering, accessibility, universal design, and inclusion principles, and our work hopes to advance our knowledge in design principles and techniques, and create sustainable transformations in our society through graduate education and research. We will be developing a five course certificate program on holistic design, and engaging NRT trainees in our research and community engagement experiences. Our hope is to create design influencers who will go out into their workplaces and create impact in designing products, processes, places, policies and pedagogy that benefits all.
Thank you National Science Foundation for funding this project.
