Dr. Tandon's research focuses on resilient infrastructure that enhances community sustainability by improving productivity, reducing disruptions, extending infrastructure lifespan, and minimizing maintenance needs. His expertise includes developing and evaluating sustainable materials for highway infrastructure with low carbon footprints, such as modified asphalt, aggregate, soils, PCC, and innovative materials like geopolymer. He also studies the impact of extreme climate events, like flooding, on transportation infrastructure, employs computational science for material evaluation, and advocates sustainable approaches for smart cities. Dr. Tandon has secured major funding from organizations such as TxDOT, FHWA, NCHRP, and USDOT and has collaborated extensively across disciplines and institutions to advance sustainable development.
